Trafficking in human beings is a form of modern slavery in which people, most often women and girls, through the means of power, threats, coercion or fraud are used for work, sexual exploitation and slavery. Trafficking in human beings is an international problem involving almost every country in the world. One of the most common forms of trafficking in human beings is forced labour. Signs of forced labour include the restriction of the employee, the deprivation of documents, the elimination or restriction of communication, working without an employment contract, insurance, lunch breaks and holidays, as well as failure to provide medical assistance in case of injury.
Example: I have been working in a company for 3 months, but my employer has not paid me. I can’t leave my job because the employer has both my passport and the only copy of the employment contract.
