Conference – Promoting autonomy in mental healthcare

On 14 November, the Ombudsman, the University of Latvia, and the Steering Committee for Human Rights in the fields of Biomedicine and Health (CDBIO) will organise an international conference on promoting autonomy in mental healthcare. The Conference is organised under the auspices of the Latvian Presidency of the Committee of Ministers.

The event will include presentations of practices, inside and outside healthcare services, that promote the autonomy of people with mental health issues. Drawing on the relevant experience of stakeholders at national and international levels, it will provide a privileged platform for exchanges. The aim is to identify possible actions and tools which would contribute to the further development and application of human rights-based responses in the provision of mental healthcare in the member states of the Council of Europe, and beyond.

The event will be held in-person and will be live streamed on Youtube in English, French and Latvian.
