Ombudsman informs European Commission on poverty risks in Latvia
On 9 October 2018 Omnudsman participated in the meeting of teh Parliamentary Human rights and social affairs commission informing about what has been done and achieved during work of the 12th Parliament (teh Saeima). Commission invited Ombudsman to give his opinion on the priorities for the next Parliament and state budget, especially with regard to human rights. Thus Ombudsman has informed the Parliamentary Commission, the Parliament and Prime Minister about issues of human rights and good governance that have negatively affected the wellbeing of the society and increased the social gap.
Ombudsman has forwarded his opinion also to the Directorate‑General for Economic and Financial Affairs of the European Commission (please find attached).
