UNHCR Regional Representative’s to Northern Europe visit to the Ombudsman’s Office

Today on 10th of May UNHCR Regional Representative to Northern Europe Mr Henrik M. Nordentoft visited Ombudsman of the Republic of Latvia Mr Juris Jansons.

Issues discussed during the visit included current situation in protection of human rights of asylum seekers, refugees and  persons with subsidiary protection in Latvia; Latvia’s position on developments on the international stage at both European Union level, and globally, as well as suggested improvements of collaboration between Latvia and UNHCR Regional Representation to Northern Europe.

UNHCR Regional Representative to Northern Europe Mr Henrik M. Nordentoft and Ombudsman of Latvia Mr Juris Jansons agreed that they have built a trusted cooperation and mutual understanding regarding situation and necessary support for asylum seekers, refugees and persons with subsidiary protection in Latvia.
