The winners of the Ombudsman’s moot court on human rights 2024 have been determined

On Saturday, 27 April, with the victory of the team “In custodia lustitiae” (Evija Velvele, Nikita Paņins) of the University of Latvia, the eighth Ombudsman’s moot court on human rights 2024 ended. The winners will participate in a summer school on human rights in Croatia.

On Tuesday, 9 April, in the National Library of Latvia, the foundation “Association of people with disabilities and their friends “Apeirons”” together with the foundation “Latvian Judicial Training Centre” organised a conference in cooperation with the European Accessible Resources Centre “AccessibleEU”. Anete Ilves, head of the Discrimination Prevention Division of the Ombudsman’s Office, also spoke at the event, talking about protection of rights.

Representatives of the Ombudspersons for Children of the Baltic States and Poland visit the Office of the Ombudsman

From 9 to 10 April, representatives of the Ombudspersons for Children of the Baltic States and Poland visited the Ombudsman’s Office to discuss the current situation in the field of children’s rights, to exchange experiences, to inspire and at the same time to discuss how to fill the existing gaps. The meetings of the Ombudspersons for children of the Baltic States and Poland take place annually, bringing together experts on children right.

SRS clarifies content of documents to be sent to taxpayers

The Ombudsman has received a positive reply from the State Revenue Service (SRS) regarding clarification of the content of documents to be sent to taxpayers and welcomes the Ombudsman’s conclusions in the case on compliance with good administration.
